What a great weekend. Dick Davey's 65th surprise birthday party garnered nearly a hundred ex-players, family, and friends on a wonderful sunny afternoon this past Sunday. It was a great tribute to my dad and an absolutely great day and Kathleen, who has unfortunately had significantly less guest this past year or so was visited often by family and friends. Bean was glowing that day, perhaps from all the attention she received. Several individuals also made generous gifts to the Global Ischemia foundation. Thank you Lou, Stanley, Phil and Irene, and many others! Thanks everyone for your help too. What a great day. Monday night's banquet was also bittersweet with the players and many guest openly disgusted about the administration decision and treatment of my father. Thanks to the boys for sticking up for what is right. They have obviously had good role models and all 6 are graduating this year and will become excellent members of society.
Here is their season highlight video:

The current goal of the GIF is to endow a chair at a local medical school (likely Stanford) who will work on the problem of anoxic brain inury. The major challenge the organization is having is that while gifts in the hundreds and thousands are very important and helpful, it is going to require a million to obtain our goal. Perhaps somebody like Mr. Sobrato who coincidentally dropped $20 million into the Santa Clara library the day my dad was fired could donate a million to such a worthy cause.
