Thanks to a friend of a friend who is an ear nose and throat doctor who came on her own time to visit Kathleen today. It is likely that Kathleen had a painful and severe pain infection, but the final verdict will be unknown until after the dried blood slowly drains through treatment.

I still cannot understand why no one took Bean to the emergency room?

Because the number one cause of death with people in Bean's situation is illness obtained in the hospital.
