Kathleen has experienced some difficulty sleeping and is coughing up lots of phlegm. No other news other than that she is struggling with some mild health issues.

Kathleen's cold has cleared up. She seems to be doing a bit better and actually scored her highest score by far in her eeg biofeedback session today.

Kathleen has continued to cough more than normal since her illness ended yet her oxygen has remained good and she doesn't seem sick otherwise.

There have been some issues with caregivers unable to come and the agency failing to get people as of late which has put a bit of a strain on the family. Hopefully, things will improve soon or we will be again looking for another agency.

Kathleen had a nice shower today before the girls and I went off to activity after activity on a beautiful day. Unfortunately the day ended with another disappointment after Santa Clara failed to get into either the NCAA or NIT tournament. Many teams with worse RPIs and records vaulted in ahead of the Broncos, but after the past 3 years of disappointments, the glass is nearly always half-empty and I expect things to go wrong.

Kathleen is fully recovered from her bout with a urinary tract infection and the flu.

This article regarding the need for more research on people in a vegetative state is exactly what the Global Ischemia Foundation hopes to encourage. 'Without national data, we don't know how many patients are in this situation. In fact, we don't even know how frequent or likely recoveries like Mr. Wallis' might be. "The Wallis case demonstrates that, even years after injury, the minimally conscious brain has the potential, in rare cases, for recovery. It also lays out the possibility that this process might even be accelerated and helped," See this amazing article.

Kathleen who seemed fairly ill just a few days ago has made a good recovery. She is off both the oxygen and antibiotics.

The family is watching with interest the blogs of several patients who have made trips to China to receive stem cell treatment for brain injuries or progressive diseases. If the results are positive, then Mike will make the difficult trip with Kathleen to China.

Kathleen is now on oxygen as a precautionary measure as her oxygen sats have lowered during her illness. Hopefully we've caught it early enough that we can avoid another trip to the hospital.

Go Broncos this weekend!

I guess, in the end, basketball isn't life. Other things matter much more.
