Three years is a long time. I think i'm finished moping and asking why. I will always deny that this was God's will, however. It simply can't be. Its unfair and wrong. You can't tell a crying little girl (like she was tonight) who has lost her mom something even remotely like that. Still, its time to stop asking "why" and start living "what now."
The girls and I miss so many things about Kathleen. The girls miss her hugs and laughs the most. What I miss most about Kathleen is simply her presence. I always knew when she entered the room, even in a crowded basketball gymnasium. She always made me feel better and more confident regardless of what spirits she found me in. It is simply and sadly no longer the same. I miss you Bean....so much.

Kathleen threw up again yesterday but appears to be doing a bit better. This Saturday has an eerie feel to it nearly three years after Kathleen's cardiac arrest. Sitting here looking at pictures of a young, vibrant, beautiful woman from just a few years ago, it is still hard to imagine what has happened to Kathleen and our family. Hope, once our sole remaining commodity appears more like fools gold everyday...leaving very little behind....except hugs from my daughter (which I just got).
Last pic from when life was still good...

Kathleen has been doing fairly well fighting off her infection though she threw up earlier today.

Happy MLKjr. Day!
The girls were excited to sleep in "mommy's room" last night and Kathleen slept very well. Perhaps their comfort helped Kathleen to better cope with her infection.
Interesting story about brain injured woman who went to Germany for
stem cell therapy. Hopefully more details will emerge regarding this story.
The Schmanski family, which is taking their 16 year old daughter to China to undergo stem cell therapy is making a national media splash regarding options that are available in developing countries abroad but not at home in the United States. If your congressperson voted against the stem cell bill, please call him to voice your anger. The bill narrowly missed the 2/3 votes required to avert the president's veto. See
this logical editorial in the Salt Lake Tribune.

Kathleen again has a bladder infection and will begin taking antibiotics to combat the problem.
Today Kathleen had an eeg. It is tough for me to gauge the readings being untrained as a technician, but it appeared to me that there was little change from the eeg two years ago. Hopefully the doctor who does the report will see it differently.

Kathleen has been fighting a cold, but her shaking has declined. She was tested for a possible infection but the results are not yet back.

Kathleen has been shaking quite a bit recently. Extra water seems to help her for awhile but then she begins shaking again.
Plans are for an eeg/qeeg this weekend to see if Kathleen has improved at all in the past three years.
Hopeful signs for stem cell research include the discovery of a
new way to harvest cells which might have less 'ethical concerns' and the Democrats promise to try and override Bush's veto.

Kathleen stayed awake for just part of the New Year's Eve's mild festivities last night at the Davey house. The girls made it all the way to Midnight along with the boys across the street last night to ring in the new year.
